My name is Kimberly Pruitt, and I was born and raised in southeast Texas. After graduating high school, I joined the United States Air Force. I spent ten years on active duty before transitioning into the Texas Air National Guard where I retired after serving a total of 20 years. My time in the military allowed me to travel the world and experience a variety of cultures. I decided to continue my education at the University of Houston where I received a Bachelor’s in Psychology. I pressed forward with my dream of becoming a therapist by enrolling in Capella University’s counseling program. Through this program, I earned a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy.
I am licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist by the Texas Board of Examiners of Marriage and Family Therapy. I am also a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional.
I have experience working in groups with veteran suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and their families. I worked in a school setting for 3 years. After the May 18th, 2018, tragedy at Santa Fe High School, in Santa Fe, Texas, I worked with the students, families, and staff, as an At-risk/Trauma Counselor. I also work with couple and individuals to help meet their mental health and wellness needs.
